Deplorable realities:are we doing enough?

Maniappan R Kutty probably would have never imagined that his days were numbered in the new Afghanistan. Neither could the people in Afghanistan nor in India. The two countries have enjoyed centuries long friendship, cooperation and tolerance.

However, incidents such as this and those of the loss of hundreds of other innocent aid workers, and visitors in Afghanistan are severe blows to the reputation of Afghanistan.

The author has urged in the last articles that the Afghan government must do more than the condemnation of such brutal acts.

There are practical and significant steps that could be taken to protect ordinary citizens against acts of violence and terrorism.

The question is whether we are still waiting for something worse to happen on a large scale before we rise to the challenge?
